I have been teaching adult immigrants for many years. What's important for me to sustain
effectiveness in my position, is to separate my career from my private life. My personal life
allows me to renew, refresh and revitalize so I can bring back a positive attitude,energy and enthusiasm into the class. And recharging means good sleep, diet, exercise, meditation and yoga on a regular basis. It's really quite simple, but amazingly effective for all aspects of one's life.

Compassion fatigue refers to the profound emotional and physical exhaustion that helping professionals can develop over the course of their career. This professional development webinar covers signs, symptoms, and causes of compassion fatigue and provides solutions for wellness.

By the end of this 60 minute webinar, you will be able to:

  • Describe and identify the signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue experienced by ELL practitioners
  • Describe examples of self-care strategies and solutions for dealing with compassion fatigue

Presenter: Lindsey Fiebig
Lindsey has been a counsellor at Bow Valley College since 2006. She has a Masters of Science with a specialization in Counselling Psychology. She is a provisional psychologist and has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. In her role as counsellor, Lindsey creates warm, inclusive, and welcoming environments that support wellness and growth.
