ESL Literacy Network

Welcome to the ESL Literacy Network - an online community of practice that provides resources and information to support the professional development of ESL literacy practitioners.

The ESL Literacy Network has recently moved to this space on the Centre for Excellence in Immigrant and Intercultural Advancement (CEIIA) website. This move connects the ESL Literacy Network to a broader community of professional development networks at the CEIIA.

The ESL Literacy Network has a new look on the CEIIA website, but you can still access the wealth of professional learning that exists on the ESL Literacy Network’s blog. We will continue to offer professional development webinars for ESL Literacy practitioners, and all of our recorded webinars are available to registered CEIIA members.

We have created a new resource finder – an online ESL Literacy resource room - filled with a collection of Bow Valley College resources and tools to enhance your ESL Literacy program and classroom instruction. You’ll find our most popular resources here, like the Learning for LIFE: ESL Literacy Curriculum FrameworkLearning for LIFE: An ESL Literacy Handbook and the ESL Literacy Readers.

Our Community

  • Being involved in the Network is like taking part in a conversation with a community of ESL Literacy instructors. It has enriched my teaching practice in so many ways.

  • All of us working with ESL Literacy learners are very lucky to have this network. It would have been so much more difficult for me to teach these learners and as well as develop a cohesive program for them without it, in isolation. And it is so nice to know that there is a whole community of us out there to connect with!

  • I honestly feel that the network is setting a global standard in ESL Literacy - the best and most comprehensive "go to" for professional development and direction, and I must say that I also feel proud that it is all happening right here in Calgary.
