TEDx is a satellite program of the renowned annual TED conference. Bow Valley College has hosted an independently organized event since 2014 (Connections) followed by 2015’s Histories and Possibilities and 2016’s Divergence.
The two-hour speaker series welcomes the College community – faculty, staff, and students alike – to attend this dynamic session presenting five talks addressing a wide range of topics that all connect to this year’s theme: kintsugi.
Kintsugi is a 15th-century Japanese art form that focuses on transformation, on embracing imperfections, and on finding beauty in unexpected places. The idea that there is beauty in the imperfect is woven through each of the 2017 TEDxBowValleyCollege talks that include universal design in education, financial management, difficult conversations with ourselves and with others, and gender equality in an African nation.
